I bought _The Love of my Life_ by Rosie Walsh as a wildcard and read it in a day. I haven’t read a lot of books like it, perhaps Evelyn Hugo (enjoyed) and Verity (did not enjoy).

I liked the mystery aspect, and that the characters are morally grey, but justified and relatable.

I liked that it was such a tough thing for the characters to go through, but the writing was never bleak. I realize I’m not a fan of the Nordic noir-melancholy, and I prefer happy or bittersweet endings. Sad isn’t a no-go, but I feel better after happier endings.

I do however want 100% less foreshadowing! It really broke immersion.

I’m fine with fiction, historical fiction, sci-fi or even fantasy, if the book reminds you of that profile.

Try City of Girls for an Evelyn read-alike. Also TJRs other books.

Cozy/ish mysteries (these are all the first in a series):

      The Spellman Files

      One for the Money

Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie

      The Beekeepers Apprentice

      No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency

      The Maid
