    basically title.

But yeah so for example a lot of stuff I’ve encountered doesn’t really do a good job of making magic and other supernatural mythical stuff feel mystical. It may as well be lazer beams and zombies or something. I want it to feel very deep and mysterious. Like something that gives the feeling of mysticism, of awe, of wonder, fear of forces beyond understanding and maybe scenes of surreal.

Not with a horror aspect like a Lovecraftian thing though. Something occulty and sacred-like

Sorry I’m bad with words but this is the best I can describe it. I want it to be raw but detailed. Alchemical and emotional. Idk

lol have you ever read the Bible? It sounds like you might enjoy it based on what you’re asking for!

    2. It gets recommended all the time, but Piranesi by Susanna Clarke might fight the bill! Strange, surreal, mystical, mysterious, but uplifting. Definitely no laser beams. I’m reading her first book right now and it shares some of those elements but with an 1800s England setting.

    3. I actually came here to recommmend Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrel, also by Susanna Clarke. I’ve read it so many times and it still makes my hair stand on end a little- not because it’s scary, but because it has that sense of mysticism and magic about it

    4. I also got that feeling from Uprooted by Naomi Novik- like something bigger was hovering just out of sight for most of the book, and then it came together and was perfect.

A few others, now that I’m thinking about it:
Passage by Connie Willis (a little heavier but wow)
Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman (a must!)
      Thistlefoot by GennaRose Nethercott
I am the Messenger by Markus Zusak

      Happy reading!
