I listened to Natalie Haynes stand up for the classics 5-8 which were mostly about Greek Mythology – I thoroughly enjoyed mainly because I had good foundation of who’s who from Stephen Fry’s books.
However I got completely lost in her 1-4 which were mostly about Ancient Greek / Romans (?) who I have zero context for so I enjoyed less and her references assumed you had some understanding.

Sophocles, Virgil, Aspasia, Aristophanes, Ovid, Plato, Argrippina, Sappho, Cicero, Lucian, Juvenal, Phyrne, Horace, Euripides, Livy.
Can you recommend me some engaging / easy to read book to gain some overview of the Ancient Rome to know who’s who?
