What’s a side character that really sticks out to you?

For me it’s Cissy Pratt from Black Rose (Nora Roberts, In the Garden). She’s a gossip monger and busybody, however she stands by Roz’s side and refuses to talk behind her back when things get rough. Roz goes from refusing to call her a friend (even in her thoughts) to referring to Cissy as one in casual conversation. Cissy never changes throughout the book, however Roz’s perspective of her does and I think it’s a masterful bit of storytelling.
