My roommate is into romance novels and is getting back into reading! She enjoys the easy reads that Colleen Hoover provides, but is definitely looking to find a well executed romance novel that’ll still be easily enjoyed. She just read Icebreaker and gave that a 2.5 or 3.
Her perfect romance novel would consist of:
Rich, abrasive, possessive mysterious man
Third person omniscient. She likes when you as a reader know things the characters don’t.
Switching perspectives if first person.
Spicy
Non slowburn… unless it’s done right.
Miscommunication: he helps her by hurting her.
Heartache before the fluff
“You don’t actually want that in a real man” love interest.
Popular books are cool, but also lesser known books are welcomed.
