I have ADHD. It’s not an excuse for not reading–it’s more like I can’t get past the first chapter unless I have developed an emotional attachment to the characters or have some dopamine from like an interesting start (though it has to have characters I can connect to). If there’s nothing interesting about the characters keeping me there, chances are I will stop reading or forget I was even trying to read it, especially if it’s very wordy or overtly focused on details/setting. It’s fine when it has to do with the character, but if I don’t see the connection within the first chapter, I tune out. Could I get recommendations on books that have brother-sister dynamics? In particular, a strong connection after some traumatic event or such. Looking specifically for big bro (14-20+) and lil sister (5-15) relationships, but sibling dynamics in general.
I’m looking for fiction all the way from YA to NA. I enjoy urban fantasy (fantasy that deals with other worlds is too much for me), supernatural, and post-apocalyptic/dystopian/society collapsing books. I’m deperate because I have been feening to read and I’ve picked up (or listened to the beginning) of around 5-6 books the past month and I cannot for the life of me find something I can truly say I enjoyed.
Please I am desperate. Thank you for reading!
