Not sure that “semi-sci-fi” is the right term… but i really enjoyed the following:
– Annihilation by Jeff VanderMeer
– Borne by Jeff VanderMeer (really loved this)
– Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir
– The Hike by Drew Magary
I think what i love most about these books are: 1) they grabbed me and wouldn’t let me go 2) there was a very human/realistic element to all of them, surrounded by sci-fi/surrealist elements and 3) they weren’t too dense.. as in, i could read them in bed to wind down but would still be as engaged and entertained as watching a show.
Any suggestions (however similar or different from the above) are very much appreciated!!
