(F23). I love stories where the main character has an animal companion. I’m big on high fantasy and romance too. I’m so excited to hear ideas!
My favorite movie is How to Train your Dragon. The bond between the protagonist and his companion is something that resonates well with me as I’ve had an incredible bond with a dog (for 10 years) who is now passed.
I’m currently reading Fourth Wing. I very much enjoy the magic, the love interests, the action, and most importantly the bonds, but I don’t care too much for the writing style. I enjoy the writing of a lot of Lovecraft’s work and the books of the Belgarid. Highly detailed and emotional. I feel that the Fourth Wing forgot what details are and is very repetitive. But, it is still a very fun story and I really enjoy it.
An adult book, with magic and animal companion(s), romance, and adventure is what I’m looking for.

ALSO, the biggest rule of all, the animal cannot die in the story. I can’t handle that haha. Thanks!

Eragon fits pretty much all this! I wouldn’t say it’s adult, maybe young adult verging on adult? But I’m the same age as you and I love it. It’s detailed, got magic, animal companions, adventure, and little bit of romance, but not much. One of my favourite series.
