My husband and I are going to an all-inclusive island resort off the shores of Belize in mid April and I am so excited! I would like to bring a short book with me that I could finish while there in the mini moments in a hammock or lounge chair between adventures and meals. Not exactly sure what I’m looking for besides something that matches the island vibe or compliments it. What would you suggest and why?

God of small things – if you are looking for mood and prose, it’s literary fiction set in Kerala.
Sex lives of cannibals – it’s a hilarious travelogue set in Kiribati. Light hearted, may have some white privilege issues in the writing but I found it overall entertaining and informative.
Macunaima by Mario de Andrade, a tropical Brazilian fantasy that is a blend of different myths and legends from Amazonian folklore.
