The lesson is in a nutshell that **a small bit of pain now is better than a huge amount of pain later**. I can’t boil that down, so some examples:
* Small pain of a vaccine injection is better than the pain of a long illness later
* Small discomfort of making a new friend is better than a long discomfort of loneliness
* Pooping every day is better than being constipated
There’s a bunch of stoic, dude quotes like “Suffer now, not later” and “The Pain of Discipline vs. The Pain of Regret” but my boy is 6 and these are bit too heavy. I can’t find an age appropriate book on this specific subject.
**Have you read a children’s story that teaches this lesson?** Can you better define the lesson? It’s one we are struggling with at home and I want to help the kids avoid some misery.
