Hi! I don’t read much fantasy, but I’m looking for something to get immersed in. I especially love good world-build and detailed characters, and I don’t mind the existence of romantic relationships but I don’t want to read a romance book. Looking for something not set in our world, bonus points if it’s a kingdom. I prefer standalones but am open to duologies as well, and I’m looking for something not too trope-y. Would also love a book that has some themes about humanity/being a person and goes beyond just “magic is cool.” Any recommendations appreciated! And I’d love to hear why you personally love what you recommend!
