I posted this in r/suggestmeabook, but it is currently stuck in review as I’m a new account.
Kung Fu Panda is probably my favorite animated movie, and I am looking for an action-adventure book (preferably fantasy as well, but open to any genre) that feels similar to it, especially in the following ways:
• Contagious Optimism
I love Po’s unrelenting optimism, that goes beyond just being naive, but can sometimes overlap with it. Would LOVE a main character who fits this archetype, especially as foil to a “I’ve worked my whole life for this!!!” villain like Tai Lung or Shen.
• Kinetic Energy
Hard to define. I guess I would say, if you feel like a book definitely does *not* have a kinetic energy about it, it’s probably not for me.
• Epic in Stakes
Does not have to be epic in *scale*, but as long as the stakes feel existential, either personally or cosmically, or both!
Important Note:
It does not have to be about martial arts. I would actually prefer that it were not, as I don’t know much about martial arts to begin with.
