I just finished the book and I hope it gets adapted someday. The premise would look great on screen: a 17th century ghost, a wrinkled woman with her eyes and mouth sewn shut, has haunted the town of Black Rock for generations, appearing on the street and in homes and whispering at passersby. But at this point the residents have gotten so used to her that their typical reaction is to hang a dish towel over her head and go about their business. It’s a great setup for a horror/comedy (emphasis on the horror, especially once a group of neighborhood kids anger the witch and the situation goes from amusing to scary).
