Hi! I’m 19 and I’ve been an on and off reader most of my life, I’ve been into more sci-fi/fantasy type books but more recently I’ve reread some of my favourite YA, coming of age books and it rekindled my love for them. The only issue is that now that I’m in university I feel less related to younger highschool characters and was wondering if there was anyone who could rec some books that are a step above YA fiction (In terms of character dynamics and more complex writing) but still have the sweet YA romance and coming of age feel if that makes any sense at all? Like college student YA if thats even a thing? Hopefully someone understands what I’m saying lol.

I’ll suggest Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro

But from the sound of it OP, you’re really just looking for normal books now. Basically if you just avoid the YA genre, you’ll find more mature themes and characters simply because they aren’t aimed at teens lol.
