My list of favourite books is rather short and I am looking for new suggestions in the fantasy or sci-fi genre.
I recently finished the wayfarer series by Becky Chambers and I loved her detailed, but positive world building. I also liked that the character’s relationships felt realistic, but did not add drama to the plot.
I read Asimov’s foundation a few years ago and was absolutely enthralled by the world building. I also loved Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency by Douglas Adams.
On the side I have been reading the Flavia de Luce Series by Alan Bradley, but would like to read something more grown-up from time to time.
I never warmed up to Terry Pratchet’s books yet, found the humour and world’s obscurity too much. I am also quite opposed to reading about (explicit) violent actions. As a kid I loved jedi books (essentially Obi-Wan fanfictions), I guess I am looking for a similarly deep immergence from a personal standpoint.
