I was reading a lot of posts online about how Catholic themes fit horror films better. Then I thought about how thrilling The Night of the Hunter was on the first read, which of course had more Protestant themes. I am also enjoying ‘Act of Oblivion’ by Robert Harris, which draws a lot on the Puritan tradition. Are there other examples of horror/thriller with Protestant themes?

I’m not sure of it really fits in to protestantism, but The Year of the Witching by Alexis Henderson may fit the bill. The religion and setting are fictional, but you can certainly see the parallels drawn to 1600’s demonological hysteria.
