Hey! I just found this subreddit, and I’m looking for some help finding something new to read. So I’m asking for your recs please 🥺.
I’m interested in the fantasy genre. I’m a sucker for a romance subplot. Lately I’ve been really into audiobooks—so if you’ve listened to anything with an awesome narrator that’s a bonus 😊
Some books I’ve read and loved are:
-Harry Potter
-ACOTAR
-LOTR
-Fourth Wing
-Inkheart
-Eragon
-His Dark Materials trilogy

Just dropping in to bang my “Naomi Novik is the coolest” drum: she’s got a great trilogy out that’s a metal-er magic school, and Uprooted and Spinning Silver are excellent fantasies with inspirations drawn from Polish lore.
Ya gotta try Samantha Shannon, too! Two great books in a dragon series are the most recent, totally epic bangers, highly recommend.
Hope these help ya find something you like!
I just finished The Winter King by Bernard Cornwell and highly recommend it. I just don’t know if you would be ok if the magic and fantasy leaned more towards trickery and realism, leaving up to your interpretation whether it is real or not. It is book 1 of 3 of the Warlord Chronicles and a revision of the Arthurian Legend. It’s epic, there’s romance, battles, the struggle between the “Nailed God” (Jesus) and the Old Gods of Great Britain
Try the Drowning Province by Celine Harvelle based on the books you mentioned seems right up your alley!
If you loved ACOTAR I really recommend Throne of Glass. It’s also by Sarah J Maas and I enjoyed it!
