Does Hunter S. Thompson’s Generation of Swine primarily focus on the ‘88 election?

I am curious because I read and loved Fear & Loathing ‘72, and want to purchase this book but in my recent skimmings I don’t know if it’s more about other topics and doesn’t focus on the candidates and the election like in his previous book. Am I mistaken?
