Curious to hear from both people who only read one book at a time like me and people who juggle multiple.

I try to read a minimum of 50 pages a day, and usually more like 75. So I’d say a 600 pager takes me anywhere from 7-12 days. I usually finish your standard 300/350 page novel in 4-5 days.

If we’re talking number of hours to finish a book, I think I’m probably on the slower side. I don’t keep track really but I think a 300-350 pager takes 6/7ish hours probably?

What about you? How do you structure your reading time?

Depends on the book/the writing style/my mental state/if I’m excited for the book. It can be anywhere between 2 hours and a few years (it took me 5 years to get through The Shining, and I went through a book twice the size in 3 hours because the writing style was easier in my brain)

Depends on the content of the book, the print type of the book (hardcover can be up to 50% more words per page than mass-market paperback) and what’s going on in my life. Typically anywhere between 10 and 20 hours unless it’s a particularly fluffy book. That can be a month if I’m very busy, or a weekend if it’s free and it’s a very good book.

Super depends on the time of year.

Three days for a 600 page book isn’t unheard of when it’s during my summer vacation, it’s a good book, and I’m in at my internet-disconnected camp.

A little less fast in mid-to-late winter when there’s not much being released for new entertainment or am soaking in a bath because it’s nice and warm. There’s 40 pages right there.

But spring, when I’m waking up and starting to go outside? Or early fall, when school related shit picks up and days are busier on top of everything else?

Probably closer to two weeks, sometimes three.

It depends on the book. It could take two or three hours, or it could take two or three days.

    5. To me it depends on the book. If it’s a slower more complex book it can take me usually 10-14 days. If I am taking notes along with it, double it. Other times if its face paced, i can fly through a book in a weekend.

But also depends on my schedule. I can read 300 pages in a weekend but only 100 during a normal week.

    6. A couple of hours straight through (on holiday, easy read, no distractions), two days (reading in the evening after work, gripping read), *up to* six months (not gripped, not motivated by any external pressure to finish). The biggest delay is usually between *obtaining book* and *reading page 1*.
