i need to make a new and organized list! im poc, queer, and i enjoy just about everything except for horror 😛
books with soo much representation are great, but if it’s forcefully done and that is the surrounding plot line without focus on the other qualities of the character(s), then hmm maybe not my cup of tea — i’ll read almost anything suggested
some of my fav YA reads
\* aristotle and dante against the world/aristotle and dante dive into the waters of the world — loved the lgbtq + poc love <33
\* uglies — dystopian novels 😀
\* the 57 bus

The Aurelian Cycle series by Rosaria Munda.
If you’re including middle grade when you say YA (since I’ve noticed that a lot of people do that), how about Amari and the Night Brothers by B.B. Alston?
(take all my recs w a grain of salt because i haven’t got around to reading most of these) monster crush, just another epic love poem, love is for losers, love & other natural disasters (i read this one and this book was so good) last night at the telegraph club + the follow up book, a scatter of light (both amazing books), full disclosure, hani and ishu’s guide to fake dating, ariel crashes a train, ace of spades (kinda a mystery book if you’re into that), the lesbianas guide to catholic school (10/10), the dos and donuts of love, the luis ortega survival club, the miseducation of cameron post
“The Readers of Broken Wheel Recommend”. This was a cute story set in a Midwestern town where a book lover opens a book store using books owned by her deceased friend and some curated other books. One of the plot lines is about a gay couple, an LBGT erotica book shelf and a devout Christian lady. It’s a quirky lighthearted book.
My most recent YA fave is a West African inspired fantasy duology by Jordan Ifueko. First book is Raybearer and second is Redemptor.
The magic and political system is great and really unique, the characters have compelling motivations and are easy to root for, and the plot’s pace is great. The first is one of those rare books where I can’t find fault in anything: prose, characterization, plot, pacing, setting, magic, etc.
