hiya – I’m a chinese adoptee who has been churning through adoptee memoirs better understand myself. one unsettling pattern I’ve noticed is that so many books are written by authors who have reunited with their birth parents (angela tucker, susan kiyo ito, nicole chung, etc.). while I’m glad those circumstances gave them a voice, I’m not really a fan of the implication that we need reunification to have a complete story worth telling and selling.
thanks in advance for any suggestions!
