Well that’s certainly not ambiguous or anything. Let me just drop two books I’ve read and enjoyed this year.
How about Warbreaker, by Brandon Sanderson? It’s around 600 pages, which might seem daunting, but in the genre of Epic Fantasy it’s about as short as it gets, especially since most such works are big multi book series. He’s probably the biggest fantasy author right now, very good.
Or how about This is How You Lose the Time War, by Amal El-Mohtar & Max Gladstone. It’s an epistolary sci-fi romance. Not the most common genre combination. Around 200 pages. Also very good.
