I’ve been listening to a lot of Behind the Bastards lately and it’s both sad and fascinating to analyse history’s worst people not only in terms of their background but also their psychology and how they may have started off as “good” but gradually became more and more comfortable harming people who were completely innocent. I think the episodes they did on Kissinger and the Non Nazi Bastards Who Helped Hitler Rise to Power are two of my favourites.

This got me thinking about how some of my favourite books involve similar themes and I would very much love to read more.

    Some examples I love:

\- Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy

\- The Zone of Interest by Martin Amis

\- Mother Night by Kurt Vonnegut

\- The Wind Up Bird Chronicle/Killing Commendatore by Haruki Murakami

\- The Autumn of the Patriarch by Gabriel Garcia Marquez

\- An Artist of the Floating World by Kazuo Ishiguro

    What are some others?
