Hello wonderful people!
I’m a pretty big reader (and by that I mean audiobook listener) but this year I’ve been in a little bit of a rut trying to find books. I went through a lot last year but I’ve been having a hard time finding something to get into. My last read was Martyr! by Kaveh Akbar and I really enjoyed it but finished it so quickly. It’s been the only book I’ve been able to get into this year.
Big authors I like include Fredrik Backman (by like I mean love), the green brothers, some Liane Moriarty, Celeste Ng, Jodi Picoult is a guilty pleasure, some of Stephen Kings contemporary work like The Institute, and I also enjoy a good memoir or essay collection.
Some of my favorite reads from last year:
Good Morning Monster (one of my top all time books honestly)
The House on the Cerulean Sea,
Three Women,
Our Missing Hearts,
Crying in H Mart,
Together We Will Go,
Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow,
Hail Mary,
Before the Coffee Gets Cold,
The Anthropocene Reviewed (one of my all time favorites, I re-read it last year and will probably re-read it again this year),
Anxious people (same as above parentheses),
Stuff that has been recommended to me that I couldn’t really get into:
Colleen Hoover,
Secret History,
Evelyn Hardcastle, Addie LaRue
Middlesex,
A lot of ~classics~ (Cather in the Rye, 1984, Slaughterhouse-Five, etc I’m sorry I’m a simple gal),
A lot of fantasy (Acotar, fourth wing, song of Achilles, I really wish I could get into it but again I’m a simple gal),
A good majority of booktok books, I LOVE rom-coms but can’t get into them in book format 🙁
Feel free to roast my reading habits! If you have any good recs I’d love to hear them please and thank you!
