For context I’m a male in my late 20s.
Finding everything meaningless these days. I’m looking to be intellectually stimulated. I also want something that directly or tangentially offers some perspective on this meaninglessness.
Open to philosophy, science, history, fiction and pretty much anything. But I would like to avoid self help books as they tend to offer over simplified solutions to life’s complexities imho.
I have limited reading experience so l’m pretty much a blank slate.
Thank you very much.

From a philosophical and spiritual perspective, if it doesn’t offend “religious” sensibilities, I would recommend something like Eckhart Tolle’s The Power of Now or A New Earth. Take it or leave it as I realize it can seem like a lot of “woo” too many.
I do find the idea that life has “meaning” or we are born for a “purpose” not to be that important. There are 8 billion human beings on the planet. Thus trying to get out of one’s head and live in the now and more direct experience, and not in a pure hedonistic sense, has value. Also helps to remember that “the road to Hell is paved with good intentions”.
