English is my first (only) language. I took 10+ years of German in school, but that ended 15+ years ago. Wow that makes me feel old. I’ve never been fluent, but used to be able to fumble through assigned reading with enough time. Those skills have atrophied quite a bit. A goal for this year is to read a book written in German. I was thinking a whodunnit with modern day language would be a good way to start freshening up. In school it was always classics, so I have an outside hope that something written in the past 20-30 years may not actually be too bad. Any suggestions on what would be a relatively easy read fitting those criteria? Thanks!
