I think I’ve discerned what I really like about the Game of Thrones series, and it’s all the side plots and background stories unfolding during the main stories. There’s always 20 millions things happening and it really helps the world feel lived in. Some of them affect the main story and some don’t, but they’re happening and you could probably write a whole other book about it. I like having my imagination go wild with them and hunting clues and references.
I’m reading Leviathan Wakes and it’s similar but less so.
Does anyone have other suggestions? Genre doesn’t matter and if you recommend a series, please it has to be finished.
