I’m going to put a spoiler just in case! I’m specifically talking about the translation by Nicolas Pasternak Slater if this helps at all.—— Anyway, as I was talking to my friend about my new book, she asked how many chapters there were so when I flipped through the pages to find out, I see that different parts of the characters are separated. Like for example: the start of chapter 1, part one, starts on pg 3 and ends on pg 10, but chapter 1, part two starts after chapter 3, part one. Is this a another way of writing chapters in a book? If it isn’t a spoiler (I haven’t finished the book yet lol), is there a reason why it written like this instead of the normal chronological order? Sorry if this isn’t the subreddit to ask this, just curious!

    1. Took me a while to parse what you were asking with what I remember of the book, think I got it! The book is written in chronological order. But you’re thinking of the chapter/part relationship backwards. The book has six parts, which are divided into chapters, not chapters that are divided into parts. You might need to just go look it over again…
So chapter 1 of part one and chapter 3 of part one (or, more correctly, part one, chapters 1 and 3), would of course come before chapter 1 of part two.

      Think:
      Part I (chapters 1-7)
      Part II (chapters 1-7)
      Part III (chapter 1-6)
      Etc..

      Ps: enjoy the book!
