Howdy. When browsing for fictional works by series or just new issues, I spend a fair bit of time filtering out the self published books by authors. Typically, their writing, plot & character development is poor and sometimes just not even worthy of labelling it YA. I always have to check who the publisher is so as not to waste time and effort on the self published stuff. I usually have to filter by choosing hardback as a search filter just to narrow down the field. Where do you folks look online for new books that are issued by regular and genuine publishers that print editions for retail sales?

I receive weekly emails from my library based on certain categories that I selected. Some lists are new books in certain genres, others are most popular check-outs from the library.
I also use Libby and each library (7) has their own themed lists. Like, this week there was a “Pie Day” list that had a bunch of different books (not all recent) that had something to do with pies lol
And they usually have lists of books for upcoming holidays or other random themes and there’s usually a good mix of new and old books by a variety of authors.
