I’m tired of historical/fantasy novels about monarchies, I’m interested in settings with political systems more like Renaissance Venice or Florence or something, where things are a little more complicated and the interpersonal drama comes from different sources. The politics don’t have to be totally central, but visible at least. If it’s only mentioned and doesn’t affect the plot at all that’s not as fun. Does anyone have recommendations?
Thanks 🙂
