Light non-fiction?
I am looking for some light, relaxing non-fiction reads to keep me distracted during a stressful time. I really like pop-culture history, but I am open to other suggestions.
Not all books, but I have enjoyed
-several Bill Bryson books
– Girl Sleuth: Nancy Drew and the Women Who Created Her
-The Dolly Parton’s America podcast
-the Defunctland YouTube videos
-travel guides such as 1000 Places to See Before you Die, Offbeat Roadside Attractions, etc.
I tried to start Prairie Fires (about Laura Ingalls Wilder) but it has a bit too much harsh reality for me right now.

Try Mary Roach.
The Almost Nearly Perfect People by Michael Booth was a fun read about the Scandinavian countries from the perspective of an outsider. Travel and geography, I guess.
Also What If and What If 2 by Randall Munroe: serious scientific answers to absurd hypothetical questions (to take the subtitle as a description – by the writer of XKCD comics, if you’re familiar; utterly hilarious)
