Taking a trip this summer and ready to get hype!

Looking for modern literary fiction set in Paris or Bordeax, by a French author. Very recent if possible, post-pandemic. Does not need to be super highbrow, but not looking for genre fiction, historical, or hard romance (romance-ish is fine — this will apparently get me pilloried on Reddit, but I like Sally Rooney, so that level of love story is cool). Ideally female protagonist in her 30s, but not required. More interested in the vibes of the city than the characters. Also preferably something somewhat lighthearted, but not essential as long as it feels like France. I CAN read French, but it takes me a long time, so I’d also prefer something in translation.

Here are some books I’ve read recently that I like like, but don’t feel limited to something like these: Beautiful World Where Are You, My Year Of Rest & Relaxation, America Is Not The Heart, Less.

I’m also open to suggestions of personal essays or nonfiction about Paris/Bordeaux, but, as you may have guessed from my general tastes of “melancholic 30 year old woman,” something in the Joan Didion vein.

    Thanks in advance!
