I would love some book reccos for my 78 year old father. He’s not an avid reader but the last few years has been more keen. He is a slow reader and has a touch of memory less kicking in so we want to keep his mind engaged.
My mum is hoping to find some more books that are “non-fiction but told like stories.” He is currently reading “The Wager” by Davis Grann and really loving it.
He loves anything by Charlie LeDuff (and has read it all).
I’m also looking for some really engaging auto-biographies and biographies. None of the usual pop culture people. He’s not interested in actors or musicians or authors. Safe bets include most pre-1950s historical people, any political people, unique business leaders, pre-90s sports people.
He is a lifelong conservative so I’m not likely to get him reading about Che. So probably nothing that leans too hard into liberal ideology. He was born and raised in Michigan so that region always has a higher value to him when choosing books.
I hope that’s enough to be going off!
Thanks to anyone who is able to offer some good options for us! Appreciate you!
