My first thought for this is *Lamb* by Christopher Moore. It’s the story, as told by a non-disciple friend of Jesus of what happens in the “missing” years in the Bible. We see Jesus as a young child, and then he reappears at about 33, so this is an imagined tale of Jesus wandering the world and becoming who he is when we meet him as an adult.
