I’ve tried on and off over the years to be a “book person”. I love the idea of reading but very rarely find a book that I get past the first couple chapters with my neuro issues.
Ive tried short stories many times and they feel like something’s missing.
So, I was thinking about it and I don’t like most movies and can’t keep up with shows that are basically 1 long movie (Game of Thrones or soap operas)
I specifically watch TV series where each episode is it’s own story (maybe a few background arcs but not necessary to know to enjoy an episode).. I watch season after season of the same people doing their thing. Until I run out of seasons.
I get attached to the characters themselves, and only have to maintain attention for 45 minutes or so.
So, I was wondering if there’s a type of book of short stories with the same characters in every story? The way a season of a TV show is like is.
Not much time needed to finish one “episode/story”, each story has a clear beginning and ending, & it’s the same characters every time that grow to feel like your friends a way.
(If there’s multiple books, that would just be like multiple seasons of the show. I dont want each story to be a whole book)
I just thought maybe this is just what fits my brain… So it would be really great to find the book version of style of TV I like.
I’m ok with this being young adult or even older kids novel sized book within reason So, nothing “Give a Mouse a Cookie” or “Magic School bus” level.
Any ideas my bookish friends?
