Hello! I feel a bit embarrassed to say that I’m not a reader and really never have been but that I want to get into it..
Can someone recommend a book that will completely suck me in? I don’t even know where to start.. I like shows like Fargo, breaking bad, Yellowstone but also love to get my trashy fix in with stuff like Jersey shore, bachelor, etc.. don’t know what my biggest interest really is! Is that so crazy or what.
Open to really any genre, maybe not political or smut (that’s what it’s called right? Ha!)
TIA!!

That’s not embarrassing at all, so don’t worry!
The maidens—set in Cambridge Uni, it’s a murder mystery sort of thing
Book lovers—romance
The love hypothesis—romance
The Thursday murder club—old age pensioners that solve unsolved murders
My cousin Rachel—sort of romance lol
Harry Potter
If we were villains—dark academia/murder mystery
No country for old men—breaking bad esque
These are my recommendations. Hope that’s helpful!
I think my recommendation would be Demon Copperhead. It sort of has some of the dramatic edge that those shows have, it’s a standalone book, and it’s generally regarded as one of the best contemporary literary fiction books.
My go to book rec for people who want to get into reading is Holes by Louis Sachar, because it appeals to all ages, has really short chapters, and is super engaging!
Based on your preferences there I think you’d like Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurty.
It’s nothing to be embarrassed about. Just one of those things. You’ll probably enjoy the Jack Reacher books. Start at the first book, the killing floor.
Rebecca by du Maurier.
