Books that are fantasy as the title says, with scenes something like a leader with their troops/friends making a last stand to protect someone/something. Taking place in war farther in, sad/hopeless tone to it. I just finished reading the red sister trilogy and lover that so something similar to how the third book is styled, just without the nuns. Some sort of romance is optional just can’t be a big thing preferably, like a motivation for a character to drive the story further.
Another similar fantasy styled story that is like what I could be looking for is the Dragon Prince series (more seasons 1-3 than the others) with just a couple characters on the run in a hopeless situation kinda thing but in a beautiful world.
Any recommendations are welcome even if they don’t exactly fit this criteria, thank you for any recommendations.
