Looking for cheesy romance but without the aggressively masculine male love interests and weird emphasis on traditional gender roles.
I conceptually enjoy the idea of romance novels but tend to read only YA ones because every time I pick one up aimed at adults, I feel like it is definitely stuck in the past. Reading about teenagers being in love kind of stops being fulfilling at a certain point but finding a good jumping off point is difficult.
I don’t really care for historical fiction and don’t mind a book being a little mindless as long as it’s fun and/or funny. I also don’t really care for the steamy stuff, it’s not a deal breaker by any means, but if that’s the selling point it’s probably not for me.
Extra not real bonus points if it’s an F/F romance that isn’t dog water.

Book Lovers by Emily Henry deliberately subverts the Hallmark tropes by having the protagonist be the kind of brunette big city career woman whose fiance in a Hallmark kovie would leave her for the sweet small town candy maker or whatever.
That and the publishing industry stuff was what drew me to it (I’m not a huge Romance reader) and I found it funny and charming. Lots of banter. And the couple actually do suit each other in terms of lifestyle and tastes, which is another issue I have with Hallmark stories.
