I’ve hit a sort of literary ennui. Everytime I ask people for book recommendations it’s either some epic series spanning 100 novel or it’s Brandon Sanderson. So I need help finding something to read.
I need something that I can’t put down, that I want to finish, and that isn’t in a super long series.
My favorite authors are Chuck Palahniuk, Anna Rice, Neil Gaiman, and China Mieville. I like most genres but my favorite books are weird. I love when a book makes me feel, with it’s joy, sadness, disgust, or anything else, just puts something in my mind I can’t get rid of.

Have you read [Holes](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/3461dfc3-5857-4126-90b2-6bc8bbba58ce) by Louis Sachar? That’s my go to book for people who want to get into— or get back into— reading, because it appeals to all ages, has really short chapters, and is super engaging.
Another great option is [Unwind](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/13643974-53b8-40c5-82f9-553b746d3669) by Neal Shusterman! It’s a super interesting dystopia.
Or you can try [A Tree Grows in Brooklyn](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/dc5de2f5-b132-4c4c-8e49-8bf46005d5da) by Betty Smith. It’s my favorite historical fiction, and it’s bound to bring out lots of feelings.
