I’ve been reading hard boiled detective books this year but since watching Dune Part 2, I’ve been craving a sci-fi novel next.
It’ll be my first sci-fi book. I would like something along the lines of the video game Mass Effect. Set in space or different planets, advanced tech, political and cultural issues, a gripping plot etc.
Would The Expanse be a good place to start? Or should I start with something shorter such as The Forever War?

Yes, I would recommend The Expanse by James S.A. Corey.
I would also recommend Hyperion and The Fall of Hyperion by Dan Simmons.
