So, I’ve always liked the trope/plotline of MFC being bullied in childhood/middle school/high school years, and then somehow years later, as an adult, due to “circumstances” is now in close proximity to her former bully, who been totally reformed. MMC is the former bully, and sees MFC after years, and is attracted to her, and remorseful for how he treated her. I just got done reading “Where I Belong” by J. Daniels, and this type of book is exactly what I’m looking for. I just started reading “Never Sweeter” by Charlotte Stein, but it’s a bit darker, where as “Where I Belong” is on the lighter side.
I never knew that “Bully Romance” was a whole subgenre that people were interested in. So while, I’ve been looking for books similar to the aforementioned title, the other books I’ve stumbled across are all super dark and twisted. I don’t want anything like the “Royal Elite” or “Devil’s Night” or “Zodiac Academy” series. I don’t want anything super cruel, dark and twisted. Just the “average” middle school/high school bullying (for lack of a better expression). The popular guy that calls the nerdy girl “fat” and/or picks on her for having braces and glasses. Or maybe makes a bet a la “She’s All That”, and then the bully grows up and matures, and meets the victim of his bad behavior as an adult. He wants to make amends, she’s not interested. They eventually becomes friends, then lovers, then HEA>
