Snow or the Sea as Characters or Pleasant Settings

Hi all, I’m looking for some kind of literary fiction that sees the sea or winter as characters. I’m not looking for survival fiction. Orhan Pamuk’s Snow and Haruki Murakami’s Norwegian Wood both do a good job with this for the snow setting and I’m looking for more.
