I’m recently single and I’ve been a single mother for over 7 years. I’ve never had much interest in reading but I really want to pick it up as a hobby. Any suggestions are appreciated!
Thank you 🙂

Did you read the popular stuff when you were growing up, like Harry Potter? Do you want a novel that will take you three weeks of bedtime reading to complete? Or would you rather read something that’s light and easy? Would you like reading about adventures?
Light -n-easy: “All I ever needed to know I learned in kindergarten”, by Robert Fulgram. Basically a bunch of fun short stories where each stands on its own, which means you can crack open the book anywhere and start reading.
Advanture? Try Miles from Nowhere, written by Barbara Savage. It’s out of print, but should be easy to find online. She and her husband quit their jobs as teachers in Cali in the 1970s to ride bicycles across the states, camping along the way. Once they made it to the East Coast, they decided to keep going. The successfully made at around the world.

If you have Amazon prime, they actually have free kindle books for you to try out and you get Amazon first reads for free. They break it down by genre so I feel that would be a great place to start. Barnes & Noble also has some free books to read as well.
If you’re looking a light read, I enjoyed Dianne Freeman’s A Lady’s Guide to… it’s a series of 7 books or so. Lost Apothecary is a fun little read that I enjoyed a lot too.

Pretty much anything David sedaris. I will suggest David sedaris to anyone looking for a book, ever.
He also just came out with a children’s book. But his essay collections? Iconic.

I started reading again after a long ways away from it! Honestly my library card really helped me get into all sort of books and genres I’d never tried before. The real kicker was getting a kindle and hooking it up to my library card – then I didn’t need to leave the house! I’m not sure what kind of books you’re interested in but I’d highly recommend a library to help even if you don’t know where to start 🙂 if you want to chat books feel free to message me too!
