Any fight scene in a book whether it being Science Fiction, Fantasy, Steampunk, etc that you have read so far, are any of them to you…too unnecessary or hard to follow/read maybe?
I just finished a short story based in the Warhammer 40k universe that has a Space Marine dueling against a fallen brother corrupted by the Chaos Gods. Both had Powerblades and we’re breaking the environment there battle was contained in. At the end, the young Astartes said won but his body damaged severely…
However, do you find INTENSE fight scenes in Sci Fi/Fantasy books unnessceray because to many details or awesomely surreal to read?!
Do you prefer fight scenes in books to be no more about the ground breaking action or the intense emotions the characters are feeling when making split second decisions?
What do you prefer?
I prefer a balanced fight scene where it’s mixed with both elements.

I don’t want fight scenes in my books and have luckily only read like one in the last year.
