Looking for a good hate to love or forced proximity romance book, ideally as a sideplot in fantasy 🙂 I enjoy slow build ups where the characters get together right at the end.
I dislike the writing style of a lot of new romance books (e.g.: it happened one summer, the hating game, the spanish love deception). Not sure why but I didn’t really enjoy the Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo or the Song of Achilles (I thought Achilles was a bit of a dick tbh).
Romance books I have enjoyed: Anything by Jane Austen, Stardust by Neil Gaiman (generally enjoy his writing style a lot)
Other Romantasy books I thought were okay (like 60-70% there): Starling House by Alix E. Harrow and Uprooted (the romance sub plot in this escalated too quickly for me and there did not seem to be much build up), The Night Circus and The Starless Sea.
In general Authors I like: Diana Wynne Jones, Frances Hardine, Neil Gaiman are some of my top faves.
