I am looking for true crime books that are really aggravating or frustrating to read if that makes sense?
Examples of books with this vibe are “A False Report: A True Story of Rape in America”, “The Pretty Girl Killer”, and “VIctim F”.
A False Report follows a girl who was raped in a group home of some kind in Washington state. She reported the rape, and the police ended up charging her for false reporting. The rapist was later found in Colorado after having raped numerous other women. It was so aggravating how the police instead of investigating the crime, and stopping the rapist, accused the girl and stopped their investigation.
“The Pretty Girl Killer” was super frustrating because of all the opportunities there were to have caught the killer, but authorities failed to act appropriately.
“Victim F” was similarly frustrating as “A False Report”. A woman was kidnapped from her boyfriend’s home, and police were trying to get him to confess to having killed her. They weren’t even trying to find the girl, just were trying to pin the murder on him. Then when the girl was found ALIVE, they pivoted and decided that she faked it, and was a real-life gone-girl, and slandered her name. The real kidnapper was later caught and the victims’ names were cleared.
