Have you ever loved a book’s plot/premise but hated the protagonist so much you gave up on it?

For me it was Grasshopper Jungle by Andrew Smith. The plot was really weird and intriguing but the main character is an immature little shit who goes through 0 development by the end of the book.

Doesn’t help that the other characters are fairly likeable (except his girlfriend who has no personality at all) and the plot itself was really original.
