I’d love a Fiction book based in reality with a good plot and where the character/s has an interesting
real life job or hobby and goes in depth about it. Bonus if it in an interesting geographical place and much is taught about that area as well.
*I realize “interesting” is subjective (lol) but I’m happy to hear your opinions/thoughts.

In [The Rabbit Hutch](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/122769174) by Tess Gunty, there is a character who writes online obituaries which might fit your request. The novel however has multiple POVs and the obituary writer is just one of the characters.

In [The Seven Moons of Maali Almeida](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/57224204) by Shehan Karunatilaka, the main character is a war photographer in Sri Lanka in 1990. I learned a lot about Sri Lanka reading this novel.
In [Intimacies](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/55918474) by Katie Kitamura, the main character is a interpreter at the international court in Europe. She interprets for a war criminal which is interesting.
