My eyes would light up at the sight of a book, and I would spend hours devouring the words on the page with my hungry eyes until I turned to the last one, spending days ruminating over the characters and lamenting over the events of the book.
My heart yearns to enjoy what it once did. I have not opened a book and truly enjoyed reading it in many years. To open a book and read its words, words that once inspired me, words that were my whole life and heart, has become a chore – dreaded, boring, utterly and completely unenjoyable. For some reason I can’t do it – there’s no joy to reading anymore. I want to feel something.
Suggest me a book that would re-ignite my passion for reading that has faded away over the years. A book that, from the first words, will hook the reader in, a book that I can escape into where the words jump out of the pages to create a new world around me. A book that will destroy me, in more ways than one. A book I would not be able to put down until the very last sentence.
