Hello all, thanks in advance for the recs!

I usually dislike audiobooks, Im the type of person that reads quickly but sometimes I need to backtrack and read a paragraph or a page over if my mind wanders – especially if it’s a fantasy book with really out there names. For example, I usually enjoy historical fiction, but I stopped listening to the Song of Achilles in the second chapter. The names were too much. I don’t like audiobooks with too dry of a narrator, and recently I’ve fallen down a rabbit hole of actors’ memoirs with the author narrating – they put the right emphasis and sell it better, probably because of acting. Recently my favorite two audiobooks were “I’m Glad My Mom Died” by Jennette McCurdy and “Taste: My Life Through Food” by Stanley Tucci. I think I really enjoyed these because there was more than just a life story, there was a larger theme throughout the books. I’m open to more than just memoirs – I listened to “The Simple Path to Wealth” by J. Collins a couple years back and LOVED it! I’m open to suggestions across genres if it was a book you really couldn’t stop listening to.

I listen in the car during my commute to and from work and when I’m at the gym, so sometimes I tend to tune in and out. Taste was great for this because some parts of the book were just recipes. I like to physically read nonfictions and historical fictions, so books that can teach me something would be great. I like to be entertained when listening. On my list to listen to is “Bossypants” by Tina Fey, “Talking As Fast As I Can” by Lauren Graham, and “World War Z” by Max Brooks but sadly they are not available in my audiobook library app.

    TIA!
